ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team completed day one of the GLIAC Outdoor Championships on Wednesday.

Christian Purchase-Ofoeme leads the men's decathlon standings 3681 points after the first five events. Purchase-Ofoeme finished in the top three in all of the events, including wins in the long jump, shot put, and high jump.

Olivia Carpenter and Sarah Gray competed in the women's heptathlon. Carpenter finished second in the 100m dash and the shot put as she sits in third place with 2683 points. Grey had a fourth-place finish in the 200 while placing fifth in the 100m to sit in sixth with 2427 points.

The decathlon and heptathlon will finish tomorrow (Thursday, May 2) at 9:00 AM. The running and field events are set to begin at 2:30 PM.
