Cheyenne Williamson Breaks Her 60 Hurdle Record, Men Tally Seven Personal Best Marks at Doug Hansen Open

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track & field program hosted the annual Doug Hansen Open on Friday night at the SVSU Fieldhouse. The Cardinal men set seven personal best times and marks during the event while the women's team had two PRs including a new school record time in the 60m hurdles by Cheyenne Williamson. She improved her previous school record time by .09 seconds with a finish of 8.29 to win the event.

Along with the PRs, the men's team had seven event wins. Trevor Culpepper won the 200 with a personal-best time of 22.38. Jack Lobodzinski also set a new PR in the mile, winning with a 4:12.96 finish. Alex Stoll won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.79. Nolan Berg was the top thrower in the shot put with a heave of 14.90m. Clarence Corbett won the weight throw with a toss of 15.22m while finishing fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.88m. Dominic Suliman won the 800 with a time of 1:52.95. Ryan Brenner was the final winner on the men's side with a victory in the high jump at 1.83m. Brenner also finished second in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.79.

Shane Siterlet was a hundredth of a second from his PR in the 800 with a time of 1:55.73 to place second in the event. Lukas Ray also finished second, he came in the shot put with a best throw of 14.01m. Braylon Silvas placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.43m. Silvas also claimed third in the long jump with a mark of 5.88m.

Bryce Husen set a PR in the 800 with a third-best time of 1:56.83. Noah Verlinde was third in the mile with his career-best time of 4:14.59. KJ Jackson II crossed the finish line in 7.08 seconds in the 60m dash to finish third. The final top three finisher for the men is Brendan Schanick who finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.44m. Schanick was fifth in the weight throw after a PR mark of 13.08m.

Daniel Barger set a new PR in the 60m dash with a 7.08 finish that was good enough for fourth. David Ferguson and Tyler Hufnagel were the final top-five finishers. Ferguson finished the 800 in 1:57.24 to place fourth; Hufnagel set a PR in the 60m hurdles with 9.34 seconds for fifth.

Alona Olshevska joined Williamson with a first-place finish in her event, as she finished the 60m dash in 7.57, just .04 seconds from her PR, to claim the top prize. Trinity Greer also claimed first with her 26.07 finish in the 200. The fourth, and final, event victory for the women came from the 4x400 Relay team of Sophia Thelen, Taylor Moyer, Makayla Fuerst, and Angelina Delbosque who finished the race in 4:05.36. Fuerst also registered a fourth-place finish in the 400m with a time of 1:01.42 while Moyer claimed fifth in the 60m dash with a finish of 8.15.

Cassandra Campbell was the runner-up in the 60m dash with a time of 9.03. Ericka Jackson was second in the shot put after a career-best throw of 12.72m.

Hanna Schroeder placed third in the 60m hurdles after finishing in 9.21. Chaniya Madison also had a third-best finish. Hers came in the 60m dash after crossing the finish line at 8.03. Brenasiaha Greene was the third individual to place third in an event with her time of 27.57 in the 200m. The 4x400 relay team of Clara Krupp, Grace Harkenrider, Tara Szuper, and Anna Alexander was third after a time of 4:28.59.

Sarah Gray and Abby Karst placed fifth in the 60m hurdles (9.91) and the shot put (10.41m ). To round out the top five placings for the women's team.

The Cardinal track and field teams will host their third-consecutive home meet next week with the two-day Jet's Pizza Invitational beginning on Friday, January 26.
