EUGENE, Ore. – Saginaw Valley State University junior Cheyenne Williamson competed at the 2023 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships Heptathlon this week. The three-time NCAA Division II Outdoor National Champion finished 13th in the two-day event with a final score of 4190.
Williamson trailed five professional and former NCAA Division I athletes that included a 2019 Olympian after day one. She had a gap of 391 points from the top to sit sixth in the standings and was the only NCAA Division II athlete competing at the championships.
The DII Honda Athlete of the Year finalist had a fifth-place showing in the high jump at 1.78m and was seventh in the 200m run with a finish of 24.22 seconds and eighth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.52. The shot put was the fourth, and final, event on day one. Williamson threw 11.96m for 13th in that event.
For day two's events, Williamson placed eighth in the javelin throw with a heave of 35.03m to register her final score in the heptathlon. She fell to 13th after not finishing the 800m run or the long jump portion of events.
While Williamson wrapped up her appearance at the 2023 USTF Toyota Outdoor Championships, SVSU freshman Andrew Quinn is set to compete in the U20 Men's Shot Put tomorrow, July 8 at 4:15 p.m., EST.
