Five Track and Field Athletes Named USTFCCCA All-Region

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University Track and Field team had five individuals and one relay team named to the 2023 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field All-Region Team.

Freshman, Ryan Brenner was named to the All-Region team in the heptathlon. Brenner finished second overall in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships posting a total of 4950 points setting his new personal best in the event. He has one victory on the year, winning at the Jet's Pizza Invitational in February.

Junior, Nathan Furst was named to the All-Region squad in the 60m Hurdles. Furst has a personal best time of 8.06 in the race and is Saginaw Valley State's current record holder in the event.

Senior, Lauren Buckner was named to the All-Region line-up in the one mile run. Buckner set a personal best and new school record earlier this season at the GVSU Big Meet running a time of 4:50.02. She finished fourth place overall at the GLIAC Championships on February 26.

Senior, Cassandra Campbell was appointed to the All-Region selection in the 60m hurdles. Campbell was able to set a new personal best and take the GLIAC Championship crown in the event running a time of 8.78 seconds to seal the victory.

Sophomore, Alexa Keiser joined the All-Region crew in the 3000m race. Keiser is currently the school record holder in the event after posting a time of 9:37.49 at the GVSU Big Meet on February 10. Keiser finished All-GLIAC taking third in the 3000m on February 26.

The women's distance medley relay team consisting of Lauren Buckner, Cassandra Campbell, Karissa Picard, and Alexa Keiser rounded out the All-Region team for the Cardinals. The squad posted the nation's third-fastest time at the GLIAC Championships running 11:29.70 and taking the victory overall.
