Nine Cardinals earn USTFCCCA Academic Awards

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its Academic Awards for the 2021-22 track and field season. The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams had multiple award winners. 

In order to be recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete, one must meet the following requirements: completed 24 credit hours in the year, maintained a 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, be at the institution for at least a year if a transfer, and achieved an automatic or a provisional qualifying mark in a championship qualifying event for the indoor or outdoor seasons.

The SVSU women's track and field team earned All-Academic team honors after posting a GPA of 3.409. The Cardinals had eight student-athletes on the women's side earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, including Arianna Wegienka, Alona Olshevska, Ciera Weber, Alexa KeiserMackenzie Ramey, Sophia Thelen, Alexa Cross, and Ali Aldrich.
