Williamson set to compete in the USATF Thorpe Cup

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University track & field student-athlete and two-time NCAA Division II heptathlon national champion Cheyenne Williamson has been selected to compete in the USATF 27th Annual Jim Thorpe Cup this Friday and Saturday from St. Mark's School of Texas in Dallas.

Team USA will face Germany in the competition. Team scoring involves tallying the top three heptathlon scores from each country and the top five decathlon scores. American heptathletes won the most recent meeting in 2019 by 174 points and have won 10 in a row since 2010, but the U.S. men have won only one of the past 10 decathlon duels, that victory coming in 2016.

Williamson won her second straight NCAA DII National Championship with 5,757 points in May. The native of Essexville, Mich., also won the NCAA DII indoor pentathlon title with 4,292 points last March.
