Westarb and Landra open GLIAC Championships for Cardinals

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams opened the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship meet on Wednesday at Grand Valley State University. The men's decathlon and women's heptathlon opened competition. 

Dan Westarb is currently in second place in the decathlon event with 3474 points. Westarb was runner-up in all five events contested Wednesday, including the 100-meter dash, long jump, high jump, shot put, and 400-meter dash. 

In the heptathlon, Kelsey Landra is fourth with 2548 points after four events. Landra posted a runner-up finish in the final event of the day, the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.05 seconds. 

Day two of the GLIAC Championships begin at 9 am Thursday from Grand Valley State University.
