Cardinals qualify six student-athletes for NCAA DII Championships

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams will send six student-athletes to compete at the NCAA Division II National Championship meet in Pittsburg, Kan. on Mar. 11-12. The NCAA qualifiers were announced Tuesday evening on NCAA.com.

Cheyenne Williamson qualified in the women's pentathlon event, long jump, and 60-meter hurdles. She is the defending national champion in all three of those events. 

Alona Olshevska will compete in the women's 200-meter and 400-meter dash races after being named Track Athlete of the Meet at the GLIAC Championships. 

Olshevska and Williamson are also set to compete in the 4x400-meter relay alongside Alexa Cross and Jenna Picard

On the men's side, CarLee Stimpfel will represent SVSU in the 3000-meter and 5000-meter runs. Stimpfel was third at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships this past fall.

Joining Stimpfel in the 5000-meter run is senior Dayton Brown.  

The Cardinals will begin the NCAA Championships at 10 am CST on Friday, Mar. 11 at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan. on the campus of Pittsburg State University.
