Cardinals sweep GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week awards

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams hosted the annual Jet's Pizza Invitational last weekend at the SVSU Fieldhouse.

Alona Olshevska swept the women's 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, as she ran 24.67 (NCAA P) and 55.57 (NCAA P) seconds. The senior currently ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the 400-meter dash. 

CarLee Stimpfel took first in the men's 3000-meter run with a time of 8:07.05 (NCAA P), winning the race by seven seconds. He is currently ranked seventh in NCAA DII in the event.

For their performances, both athletes have earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors. 

The Cardinals will host Northern Michigan University and Wayne State University in a tri-meet at 1 pm next Saturday from the SVSU Fieldhouse.
