Cardinal Track & Field teams earn national academic recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Both Saginaw Valley State University Track & Field programs earned national recognition for their academic achievements from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  Both the men's and women's squad were listed as NCAA Division II Academic Team Award winners while there were seven individuals that earned the national academic awards. 

The Cardinal Women posted an overall GPA of 3.32 while the Men had a 3.11 GPA collectively. The two teams made the list after posting at least a 3.0 GPA throughout the 2018-19 indoor and outdoor seasons. 

Alicia Aldrich, Sophia Bradley, Allison Dorr, Lauren Huebner, Jenna Keiser and Alona Olshevska all earned the national recognition on the women's side while Clyde Anderson was the lone representative from the men's squad on the list. 

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic award, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either the indoor or outdoor season.
