INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving program wrapped up the 2024-25 season with day five of the NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday. At IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Benjamin Wainman and Alexa Hieber both were named All-Americans with their performances in the 1650-yard freestyle.
Wainman finished the mile with a time of 15:24.66, placing eighth and being named First Team All-American. Hieber smashed another program record for SVSU with her mile time of 17:06.36. She entered the event as the 27th seed and placed 15th, being named Second Team All-American. She broke her own record of 17:11.32 from last season by almost five seconds.
The program finished the competition with the 400-yard freestyle relay. Logan Fox, Adam Bebars, Alvaro Rodriguez, and A'lmos Szedlak finished in a time of 2:57.81, placing 17th overall.
Season Recap: Saginaw Valley swimming and diving ends the 2024-25 season, sending nine to the NCAA DII Championships and took fifth in the GLIAC Championships. Eight new program records were set as Hieber set the 500-yard, 1000-yard, and 1650-yard freestyle records. Wainman set new record times in the same three events as well. Rodriguez made a splash in his freshman year with a program record in the 200-yard butterfly and Szedlak set a new record time in the 400-yard individual medley.
