Wainman and Hieber Compete at Day Two of NCAA DII Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving program saw their first action at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Wednesday. The second day of the five-day meet held the 1000-yard freestyle where Benjamin Wainman took 13th and Alexa Hieber took 18th.

Wainman entered at the 14 seed and finished with a time of 9:12.91, just over three seconds behind his record time from earlier this season to move up one spot. Hieber was the 20th seed and finished two seconds behind her record time from this year as well with a mark of 10:11.15, moving up two spots.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley swimming and diving has one swimmer competing on day three. Freshman Alvaro Rodriguez makes his NCAA DII Championships debut in the 100-yard butterfly on Thursday, March 13. The prelims are set for 10:00 AM and the finals at 5:30 PM EDT from IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
