Benjamin Wainman Qualifies for Australian Olympic Trials

GENEVA, Ohio – Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving was not done with SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio after the NCAA Division II National Championships. On Sunday, Benjamin Wainman competed in the DII LC Invitational to try to qualify for the Australian Olympic Trials.

Wainman swam in the 1500-meter freestyle and finished in 16:04.07. He was nearly three seconds ahead of the cut time of 16:06.66. The Cardinals were one of 21 teams to compete and Wainman made the cut to qualify for his National Olympic Trials. The Sydney, Australia native will compete in the 2024 Australian Swimming Trials which take place June 10-15 from Brisbane Aquatic Center.
