Strong Performances in Day Four of NCAA Swim & Dive Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving program had a packed day at SPIRE Institute for the fourth day of the NCAA Division II National Championships on Friday. The Cardinals had five swimming events and one diving event on the schedule.

Rory Kauffman placed 15th out of 16 in the 3-meter dives with a preliminary score of 443.05 and a finals score of 443.30.

Logan Fox had a big day placing 10th in the preliminary round of the 100-yard breaststroke and finished 13th out of 16 in the consolation final with times of 53.78 and 53.96. Alejandro Robles Ruiz placed 16th in the preliminaries of the 100-yard backstroke and also swam in the consolation round taking 15th with times of 47.92 and 48.24. Robles Ruiz and Fox also swam in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Eric Slabbert and Almos Szedlak. They placed 14th out of 16 with a time of 1:20.36.

The last two events were the 500-yard freestyle for both the men and women. Benjamin Wainman placed 19th out of 43 with a time of 4:28.84 in the prelims. It also set the program record. Alexa Hieber took 30th out of 49 with a prelim time of 5:00.12.

In the final day, Robles Ruiz swims in the 100-yard freestyle and Wainman and Hieber wrap up competition with the 1650-yard freestyle on Saturday.
