GENEVA, Ohio – Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving continued their competition at the NCAA Division II National Championships at SPIRE Institute on Wednesday. They had three events with Alexa Hieber and Benjamin Wainman swimming in the 1000-yard freestyle and the team of Alejandro Robles Ruiz, Eric Slabbert, Logan Fox, and Almos Szedlak competing in the 200-yard medley relay.
Wainman took 13th place out of 34 with a time of 9:13.02 in the 1000-yard freestyle. His record time earlier this year was only 0.68 seconds faster at 9:12.34. Hieber placed 32nd out of 39 with a time of 10:21.24. She was just over seven seconds behind her program record time of 10:14.03 earlier this season.
In the relay, SVSU took 19th out of 21 with a time of 1:28.24. Robles Ruiz started the relay with a time of 22.10 Slabbert followed with a time of 24.44. Fox finished his leg in 21.28. Szedlak wrapped up the relay with a time of 20.42.
SVSU swim and dive continues their competition with two swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly on Thursday. Both Robles Ruiz and Fox will compete on the third day of competition.
