Cardinal Swim & Dive Finished Preparations for the National Championship

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving program wrapped up their regular season with their Second Chance meet at home Saturday afternoon. The meet was an opportunity for last minute qualifications for the NCAA DII National Championships which start Tuesday, March 12 and run through Saturday, March 16.

SVSU had both a men's and women's diver with Sam Hudgens and Cailey Mills. Hudgens scores 286.05 and 209.32 in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with Mills scoring 285.00 and 249.52 in the same events.

The Cardinals had four women and three men swimming in events. For the women it was Andrea Bustos, Hannah Martin Cook, Emily Solarski, and Samantha Fowler. On the men's side it was Christian Rottier, Brodey Millerov, and Joao Pedro Noguera.

Martin Cook swam in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke with times of 57.98 and 2:04.98. Solarski swam the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 58.75. Bustos competed in the 200-yard freestyle and finished with a time of 1:55.10. Fowler wrapped up the competition with a time of 4:29.41 in the 400-yard individual medley.

Rottier and Millerov both competed in the 100-yard breaststroke with Rottier finishing in 55.85 seconds and Millerov hitting a mark of 57.92 seconds. Pedro Noguera swam in the 100-yard butterfly and finished with a time of 50.36.

SVSU swim and dive has nearly a month off before the five-day National Championship competition. The meet will be held at Sprite Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
