Caird named CoSIDA First Team All-American for second time

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University diver Libby Caird was named NCAA DII First Team All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the second straight year Caird has earned the honor.

The senior from Jenison, Mich., is majoring in Occupational Therapy at SVSU.

Caird had an outstanding season in the pool for the Cardinals. She earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events and was the GLIAC Champion in the 1-meter dive. Following the GLIAC Championships, Caird was named Diver of the Year by the conference.

Student-athletes are nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-American awards by a CoSIDA member at their institution. CoSIDA Academic All-American voters consider both performances in competition and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominees must have been enrolled for at least one calendar year and have achieved sophomore-academic standing at the time of nomination.
