McGill, Caird advance in NCAA DII Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Saginaw Valley State University swimming and diving teams opened up the NCAA Division II Championships with the NCAA Diving Qualification Meet being contested on Tuesday afternoon. All divers competing recorded six dives in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. 

On the women's side, Libby Caird advanced to the championships in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. The senior finished 22nd in the 1-meter with 200.60 points and 10th in the 3-meter event with 241.95. Also competing for SVSU was Adelaide Spencer. She finished 36th in the 1-meter dive with 180.90 points and 46th in the 3-meter with 144.40 points. 

Adrien McGill advanced to the NCAA Championships on the men's side after finishing 12th in the 1-meter with 231.20 points and 18th in the 3-meter with 227.35 points. 

The NCAA Championships will begin at 10 am Wednesday from the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
