Caird, McGill sweep GLIAC diving awards for second time

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University swimming & diving teams returned to competition on Saturday against Ashland and Hillsdale in Hillsdale, Mich.

On the men's side, the Cardinals defeated Ashland University 167-67, while the women fell to host Hillsdale 114-113 and picked up the win over Ashland 156-80. 

The Cardinals swept both the men's and women's diving events. Libby Caird won the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 269.40. She then posted 276.00 points to win the 3-meter diving event. 

On the men's side, sophomore Adrien McGill won the 1-meter dive with a score of 268.65 points, and the 3-meter dive with a score of 279.55. 

For their efforts, both McGill and Caird have earned GLIAC Diver of the Week honors. It is the fourth time Caird has earned the award and the second time for McGill. 

SVSU will travel to Davenport University next Saturday to face the host Panthers and Grand Valley State University at 1 pm in Kentwood, Mich.
