Macy Irelan Collects her Sixth GLIAC Pitcher of the Week Award After Throwing No-Hitter on Saturday

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior Macy Irelan was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the sixth time this season by the league office on Monday.

Irelan threw a no-hitter for the Cardinals in her 15th start of the season to earn a win in game one against Parkside on Saturday. Irelan was dominant as she was just two walks shy of a perfect game after a complete seven innings of work where she sat seven Rangers down on strikes. She improves to 13-3 for the season and continues to lead the GLIAC in ERA, opposing batting average, strikeouts, wins, and fewest runs allowed. She currently is third in NCAA Division II in WHIP with 0.74, fourth in hits allowed per seven innings with 3.68, and sixth in strikeouts per seven innings with 9.9.

The Cardinals ended their three-date homestand this past weekend with a 5-1 record and will now hit the road to begin a two-day road trip this week. They start at Findlay on Wednesday, April 16, before getting back to GLIAC play at Davenport on Friday, April 18. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
