Macy Irelan Snags Fifth GLIAC Pitcher of the Week Award

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior Macy Irelan was named the Softball Pitcher of the Week for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on Monday afternoon. The transfer from Kent State University has earned this award for the fifth time this season, which is the most weekly awards earned by an SVSU player in a single season.

Ireland continues her dominant debut with the Cardinals as she went a perfect 3-0 on the week with two starts and struck out 29 batters on her way to helping SVSU to a 7-1 mark in conference play. She leads the GLIAC in complete games with 10 and is third in the country in hits allowed per seven innings and strikeouts per seven innings. Irelan's WHIP is also third best in the nation, and she ranks second in the league in ERA and 18th in NCAA Division II.

The Cardinals host three GLIAC doubleheaders this week beginning on Wednesday, April 2, against Ferris State at 3:00 p.m. (ET).
