BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University softball team closed the 2022 regular season on the road at Ferris State University on Saturday in Big Rapids, Mich.
The Cardinals scored three in the second inning of game one and got a strong performance from Emily Depew on the mound to earn a 3-0 win. Game two was canceled in the second inning due to weather and will not be made up.
The win moves SVSU to 31-18 overall and 17-10 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Cardinals prepare for the postseason starting next week.

- The Cardinals opened the scoring with an RBI single from Blasia Moyler, scoring Meagan VerVaecke.
- Sydney Herioux added to the lead with a sacrifice fly and SVSU pushed the lead to 3-0 with an RBI from Sarah Gersch later in the second inning.
- The Cardinals remained in front the rest of the way, as Emily Depew (12-9) cruised through the Bulldog lineup. Depew pitched all seven innings for the complete-game shutout, allowing six hits, one walk, and striking out seven.
- Julia Salisbury and Moyler each finished with two hits for the Cardinals.
