Cardinal Men Finish 16th at Midwest Regionals

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's cross country team posted a 16th place finish at the 2014 Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday (11/22).  The event was ran at the Angel Mounds State Historical Site in Evansville, Indiana.

The Cardinals finished in the 16th position with 440 points, 23 points behind GLIAC foe Walsh University.  Grand Valley State University won the event with a total of 43 points.

Joey Southgate led the Cardinals with a 22nd place showing, finishing with a time of 31:30.9 in the 10K event.  He was named to the All-Region team for his performance.

Tom Goforth was next for SVSU, finishing 59th with a mark of 32:50.1.  Clyde Anderson was 105th with a time of 33:50.5 and Andrew Middleton 121st with 34:07.8.  Eli Poth rounded-out the scoring with a 139th place showing and a time of 34:38.3.

The event finishes the 2014 season for SVSU, which returns all competitors from this year's team.
