Cardinal Place First at Lansing Community College Invitational

LANSING, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State Univerisy men's cross country team competed in the 8.000 meter Lansing Community College Invitational on Friday (Sept. 28) at Grand Woods Park. The Cardinals won the Invitational with 43 points, 20 points ahead of second place Indiana Tech.

Senior Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich.) paced the Cardinals with a fifth place finish in a time of 25:47.0.  Sophomore Drew Meylan (Bay City, Mich. / Bay City Western HS) finished right on his heals in sixth place, crossing the line in 25:51.9.  Seniors Eric Spitz (Holt, Mich. / Holt HS) and Joseph Burelle (Sterling Heights, Mich. / Stevenson HS) crossed the line in ninth and tenth place, Spitz timed in at 26:03.2, while Burelle finished in 26:06.9 respectively.

Junior Chad Scott (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills Eastern HS) and sophomores Tony Peel (Swartz Creek, Mich. / Swartz Creek HS) and Jacob Lauka (Oxford, Mich. / Lake Orion HS) rounded out the Cardinal runners finishing in the top-20.  Scott finished 13th with a time of 26:14.6, while Peel and Lauka finished in 17th and 18th place.  Peel finished in a time of 26:38.5 and Lauka finished in 26:41.5.

The Cardinals will return to the course on Oct. 5 when they compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich.
