EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State
University men’s cross country team competed at the Michigan
State University Invitational Friday (Sept. 18).
The Cardinals ran very well with three seniors placing in the top
50 and a freshman placing in the top 70. The seniors were led by
Steve Genther (Laingsburg, Mich. / Laingsburg HS) who crossed the
line in 16th place with a time of 25:32. Teammates, Cortland Seaver
(Freeland, Mich. / Freeland HS) and Derek Stone (Metamora, Mich. /
Lapeer East HS) finished in 32nd and 38th overall with times of
25:59 and 26:09, respectively. Closing out the top five for the
Cardinal were freshman Tyler Noble (Shepherd, Mich. / Shepherd HS)
(27:00) and sophomore Derek Welmers (Standish, Mich. /
Standish-Sterling HS) (27:40) placing them 64th and 96th
overall.
The Cardinals will host the Cardinal Invitational next Friday
(Sept. 25) beginning at 12:00pm.
