SVSU's Bellsky Named Midwest Region "Coach of the Year"

NEW ORLEAN, La. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Thursday (Nov. 12) that SVSU's Jenny Bellsky has been selected as the Men's Cross Country Midwest Region "Coach of the Year."

Bellsky's Saginaw Valley State men's cross country team had an impressive meet at the Midwest Region Championships. The Cardinals finished second overall as a team and earned their first trip to the NCAA National Championships since 2006. Saginaw Valley scored 88 points at the regional meet and placed three runners in the top-10, all of whom earned USTFCCCA Midwest All-Region honors. In conference action, the Cardinals finished second overall, the program's highest finish at the conference meet since 1994.

Bellsky is currently serving as the interim head coach for both the men's and women's programs. The Cardinals are preparing for the NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be held on Nov. 21 at Southern Indiana University in Evansville, Ind.
