UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University men’s cross country runner Derek Stone (Metamora, Mich./Lapeer East HS) has been selected as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference runner of the week.

Stone, a sophomore, helped push the Cardinals to a 10th place finish at the 36th Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational at Loyola University on Saturday (9/27). Stone finished in 23rd place with an overall time of 25:36 in the 5K run.

In the meet, Stone helped boost the Cardinal men’s squad to a Top 10 finish overall with a score of 320.
