Tyler Grob and Emily Short Earn All-American Honors at Indoor Nationals on Final Day

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Two members of the Saginaw Valley State University men's and women's track and field teams finished their week strong at the 2013 NCAA Indoor National Championships today (March 9) on the final day of competition.

For the women, sophomore Emily Short (Tawas, Mich. / Tawas Area) finished fourth in the 3,000 meter run to earn her second All-American designation of the 2013 NCAA Indoor National Championships. Short finished the distance race with a time of 9:45.78.

On the men's side, senior Tyler Grob (Pinckney, Mich.) sat in 11th place after day one of the men's heptathlon competition. Grob started off day two by taking sixth place in the 60 meter hurdles with a mark of 8.39 seconds. He then proceeded to earn top honors in the pole vault portion of the event as he cleared 15 feet 9 inches to move up the standings with one event left. 

In the final event, Grob recorded a fourth place finish in the 1,000 meter dash after a time of 2:40.61. Overall, Grob earned All-American honors in the heptathlon by placing fourth after setting a school record with 5,344 points.

These two SVSU All-Americans join the group of student-athletes representing the Lady Cardinals distance medley relay who earned the same distinction on day one. Congratulations on a great indoor track and field season!
