NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Saginaw Valley State University men’s track and field team has been given the privilege of sending one athlete to the 2010 NCAA Division II Championship meet, held on May 27-29 in Charlotte, N.C.

Senior middle distance runner Tony Filipek (Caro, Mich./Kingston HS) was the only runner for Saginaw Valley that was chosen to run in the national championship meet.  Filipek earned a spot in the 800-meter run, and enters the meet seeded seventh overall with a time of 1:50.48.  Prelims for the 800-meter run are scheduled to take place Friday (May 28) at 6:55 pm.  Finals are to follow on Saturday (May 29) at 7:46 pm.
