Men’s Soccer Falls at Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road against Parkside on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals (5-3-0, 1-2-0 GLIAC) tallied seven shots, four on goal, but could not crack the Rangers' (4-2-2, 2-1-1 GLIAC) defense to get on the board.

Parkside's Matteo Quintero broke the tie in the second minute of play with a goal off a corner kick tucked just inside the far post. Mzo Mthembu took the first scoring opportunity for SVSU in the third minute, his only shot on goal in the game, but Ranger keeper Daniyal Rana made the save to hold the lead.

Parkside extended the margin in the 38th minute and the Rangers took a 2-0 lead into the break. The game's final score happened in the 51st minute and put the score at 3-0.

Jayden Cameron led the Cardinal attack with two shots on goal and Matty Telfer registered one shot on frame in the losing effort.

Nick Kay saved two of the five shots he faced in the contest.

UP NEXT: SVSU will look to bounce back on Sunday, October 6, when they travel to Hammond, Indiana to face Purdue Northwest in a rematch of last year's GLIAC Tournament Championship game. The Cardinals and Pride is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
