Cardinals Tie Huskies in GLIAC Opener

St. CLOUD, Minn. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team played St. Cloud St. to a draw in the team's first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game. The Cardinals (2-2-1, 0-0-1 GLIAC) generated a 17-5 advantage in the shot totals including five shots on goal, but neither team was able to break the deadlock.

Evan Baker led the attack for SVSU with four shots, two of which were on target. Jonathan Monney finished with three shots, two on goal. Elliot Nottoli also had a shot on goal for Saginaw Valley.

The Cardinal defense was stout as they only surrendered one shot on goal which didn't come until the 81st minute. Keeper Jack Simms made the stop on that play to keep the game scoreless.

The SVSU men's soccer team travels to the upper peninsula to face Northern Michigan on Sunday, September 17. The game will kick off at 3:00 p.m.
