UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team clinched the outright Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Regular Season title with a pair of road wins last weekend.
The Cardinals allowed just one goal in 180 minutes to secure wins at Davenport and Purdue Northwest. Robbie Baker was the leader of the defense, making plays for SVSU throughout both contests.
For his efforts, Baker has been named the GLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season.
Baker has led an SVSU defense that has allowed just 27 goals in 16 games this season as the Cardinals enter the postseason unbeaten with a record of 12-0-4 overall and 9-0-3 in the GLIAC. Baker has one goal and six assists for the Cardinals this season.
SVSU will host the GLIAC Postseason Tournament Semifinals starting Nov. 4 at Braddock Field.
