MIDLAND, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's soccer team moved to 3-0-0 on the young season with a 3-0 non-conference victory Friday over Tiffin University at Northwood University's Dean Soccer Field.
SVSU outshot the Dragons 10-7 as the teams played a physical game, combining for 27 fouls and four cards (including three yellow and a red).
How it Happened:
- The Cardinals took a quick lead in the 12th minute as Benjamin Adamson scored his first goal of 2022 on a feed from Lachlan Hepburn.
- SVSU made it 2-0 in the 34th minute when Jayden Cameron found the back of the net for his first career tally on assists from Cody Miller and Shiekh Manneh to wrap up the first-half scoring.
- To start the second half, Jonathon Monney scored his team-leading fourth goal in the 56th minute to seal the victory.
- Michael Owusu led Tiffin – which was playing its season opener – with a pair of shots.
Inside the Box Score:
- Jack Simms made one save to earn his first career shutout. He was part of a combined shutout two years ago.
- SVSU also had a slight edge in corner kicks, 3-2.
