Choi and Cardinals in Second Place After Day Two of Midwest Regional

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team made a significant move on the leaderboard Friday, climbing eight spots on the second day of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at the St. Joseph Country Club. SVSU posted a team score of 286 (+2) in the second round, bringing its two-day total to 583 (+15).

Jiseung Choi led the Cardinals with an impressive 67 (-4), vaulting 21 spots to tie for second place individually. He, along with teammates Joey Per and Shea Harmeson, each recorded an eagle on the back nine. Choi added three birdies and just one bogey in his round, bringing his two-day total to 140 (-2).

Evan Klein turned in the second-best round for SVSU, shooting a 72 (+1), a four-stroke improvement from his opening round. He now sits at 148 (+6) through two rounds. Per also holds a 148 (+6) total after carding a 73 (+2) on Friday, highlighted by an eagle on the 559-yard par-five 10th hole and birdies on the final two holes.

Harmeson finished strong with an eagle on the 486-yard par-five 18th hole to shoot 74 (+3). Choi's eagle came on the 510-yard par-five 17th. Thomas Keyte rounded out the Cardinals' lineup with a 78 (+7) and stands at 153 (+10) overall.

Up Next: The Saginaw Valley men's golf team will wrap up the Midwest Regional on Saturday, May 10. A minimum of the top three teams from each region, along with eight at-large selections, will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships, set for May 19–23 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
