Evan Klein and Men’s Golf Finish Second at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate

LACONIA, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley State University men's golf team competed in the Findianapolis Intercollegiate, hosted by Findlay and Indianapolis, playing three rounds at Chariot Run Golf Course in Laconia, Indiana, on Monday and Tuesday.

Evan Klein led the Cardinals with an impressive performance, finishing second out of 52 golfers at four under par over three rounds—just one stroke behind the leader. The team tied for second place with UIndy out of 10 teams, shooting +12 overall and finishing ahead of four top-50 programs.

Klein recorded rounds of 72 (E), 69 (-3), and 71 (-1) for a total score of 212 (-4). He also carded the team's lone eagle, completing the par-five 11th hole in just three strokes. Thomas Keyte tied for 18th with rounds of 80 (+8), 71 (-1), and 70 (-2), totaling 221 (+5). Shea Harmeson followed closely, tying for 20th with scores of 79 (+7), 70 (-2), and 73 (+1), finishing at 222 (+6). Dominic DeLaura and Jiseung Choi rounded out the team, with DeLaura shooting 80 (+8), 72 (E), and 73 (+1), while Choi posted rounds of 76 (+4), 77 (+5), and 74 (+2).

SVSU recorded one of the 10 eagles in the tournament and excelled on par threes, averaging 3.12 strokes per hole—the best of any team. The Cardinals also finished second in total pars with 174 and had the fewest bogeys at just 50.

Up Next: The Saginaw Valley men's golf team will compete in the Bill Blazer Memorial Match Play, hosted by Ohio Dominican, this weekend. The tournament will take place at Lancaster Golf Club in Lancaster, Ohio, on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6.
