Men's Golf ties for 7th at 2019 GLIAC Championships

BATTLE CREEK -- The Cardinal Men's Golf team finished play at the 2019 GLIAC Championships on Saturday, shooting a round of 304 in the final 18 holes of play at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, Michigan. 

SVSU finished with rounds of 312-304, ending tied for 7th place with Northwood, eight strokes behind Northern Michigan. The Cardinals missed out on advancing to the final four medal round by 11 strokes. 

Ashland will enter Sunday play as the #1 seed and face #4 Wayne State. #2 GVSU will square-off with #3 Ferris State. The winners of those matchups will then play Sunday afternoon for the team match play title. 

Gunnar Stein finished in the top-10, shooting rounds of 77-72 with a total of 149 (+5). 

Jared Lyons had the second best score on Saturday, carding a score of 74. He ended up tied for 23rd with a final tally of 154. Dustin Pumford finished tied for 30th after shooting scores of 79-78. 

Alex Dice carded rounds of 76-82 while Brady Dice scored 83-80 for the Cardinals. They finished tied for 33rd and tied for 50th, respectively. 

Up Next...

The tournament more than likely finishes the 2018-19 season for the Cardinals, as they will graduate just three seniors from this year's team.
