Cardinal Men tied for 9th after round one at GLIAC Championships

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Cardinal Men's Golf team opened play on Friday at the 2019 GLIAC Championships, which are taking place at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek, Michigan. SVSU shot an opening round of 312, sitting tied for 9th place on the par-72, 7,020 yard layout. 

Saginaw Valley is tied with Parkside, two strokes behind 8th place Northwood. Ashland shot a 295 and is the round one leader, three strokes clear of Ferris State.

Alex Dice led the way for SV on Friday, shooting a round of 76. He is tied for 14th place overall after 18 holes.

Gunnar Stein had a 77 and is tied for 20th place. Dustin Pumford shot 79 and is tied for 32nd overall while Jared Lyons rounded-out the team's scoring with an 80 and is tied for 38th.

Brady Dice had an 83 in round one competing for SVSU as well. 

Up Next...

The team continues with round two on Saturday, which is the last day of stroke play before the top-four teams advance to team match play on Sunday.
