SVSU Men third after first day at WSU HawksHead Invitational

SOUTH HAVEN -- Using an under-par performance from Dustin Pumford and Alex Dice, who both shot a one-under 71, the SVSU Men's Golf team sits in third place after the opening round of the HawksHead Invitational, hosted by Wayne State University.

Both Pumford and Dice sit in a tie for 5th place overall after the first round effort. Gunnar Stein and Jared Lyons rounded-out the team's scoring on the first day of competition with rounds of 74. They are tied for the 22nd spot overall.

That put the Cardinals at their team count of 290, only five strokes behind leader Northwood and a single stroke shy of second place Wayne State.
