GLIAC -- Saginaw Valley State University sophomore guard Myles Belyeu has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Basketball South Division Player of the Week following his performance over the weekend in the league-opening contests.
Belyeu had a big performance for the Cardinals in the opening weekend of GLIAC action in the Upper Peninsula. Belyeu had his fourth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds in Thursday's loss at Michigan Tech before going for a season-high 28 points with five boards in leading SVSU to a 64-58 win at Northern Michigan on Saturday. Myles leads Saginaw Valley and is fourth in the league this season so far with a 19.1 ppg average.
Saginaw Valley is now 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC for the 2019-20 campaign and continues play on Sunday (Dec. 15) at Northwood University in a 6:00 p.m. league contest.
