Micah Cretsinger Receives Opportunity with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University linebacker Micah Cretsinger will get his shot at making a National Football League (NFL) roster as he was invited to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rookie Camp that runs from May 9-11.

"When you work so hard for an opportunity to live out your childhood dreams, it means the world," stated Cretsinger. "Especially having not taken the easiest route to get to this point, it just means that much more and pushes me to work even harder to get my foot in the door. I'm super excited to go battle in camp and give myself an opportunity to do something that a lot of small school kids and people from Jackson don't always get the opportunity to do! Nothing is guaranteed in the league, so I'll be putting my best foot forward and working to leave no regrets!"

Cretsinger finished his career with five All-America honors, including four first-team honors. The Cliff Harris Award finalist was the GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year and First-Team All-GLIAC in 2024, leading the SVSU defense in tackles for the second consecutive season. Cretsinger finished his Cardinal career with 271 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 32.5 TFL, 10 interceptions, and seven forced fumbles. He was the first GLIAC player (only fifth in D2 History) to tie an NCAA Division II record with four interceptions returned for a touchdown in 2023.

"We're all very excited for Micah!" said SVSU head coach Ryan Brady. "We know this has been Micah's dream, and now he has a tremendous opportunity ahead. I am very proud of Micah and everything he has done at SVSU. Now, he has a new challenge to tackle in the NFL. We wish Micah all the best moving forward.  Go 'Earn It' Micah!  We love you."
