UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior safety Eli Gordon was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week for the third consecutive week after helping the Cardinals to a 28-24 win over 15th-ranked Indianapolis on Saturday.
Gordon led the way for the SVSU defense with a team-high nine tackles. He returned an interception 70 yards to the house to give the Cardinals a 21-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. He leads the GLIAC with three interceptions and is the only player to return one for a touchdown. His 0.8 interceptions per game have him tied for fifth in the nation.
The SVSU football team continues its three-game road trip with a GLIAC opening contest at Northern Michigan this Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
