UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -  The Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League announced the signing of former Saginaw Valley State University linebacker Victor Abraham for the upcoming 2022 season.

Abraham appeared in all 11 games for Saginaw Valley State in 2021, totaling 93 total tackles (ranked fourth in the GLIAC), 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, one interception, two forced fumbles, and recovered three, including one for a touchdown at Bowie State on Sept. 11.

The Canton, Mich., native was named to the All-GLIAC First Team following the 2021 season.

"I am extremely excited and happy for Victor," SVSU Head Football Coach Ryan Brady said. "As a coach, you are always thrilled when your players continue to get opportunities to play professionally. Victor was a great player for us, but more importantly, he was a great teammate and leader here at SVSU. He is an outstanding young man and an even better person.  Victor had a very good season and pro day here at SVSU and really opened a lot of eyes.  He is a very bright, long, and athletic football player. I am very proud of Victor and we all wish him all the best as he continues his football career in the CFL." 

The Elks finished the 2021 season with a record of 3-11. The 2022 preseason starts for the Elks on Friday in Winnipeg.
