UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University football team will put its three-game win streak on the line with a road contest at Davenport University on Saturday in Caledonia, Mich.
The Cardinals earned their second win of the season against Wayne State University last weekend, topping the Warriors 41-25 at Wickes Stadium. SVSU racked up 227 yards on the ground with four rushers picking up at least seven carries.
Tommy Scott led the rushing corps, with 16 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Colby Newburg rushed 13 times for 66 yards to go along with 123 yards through the air and a score. Backup quarterback Mike O'Horo rushed for 38 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the win.
In the last matchup with the Panthers in 2019, Davenport spoiled senior day for the Cardinals, topping SVSU 33-23 at Wickes Stadium.
Davenport enters this weekend's game with a record of 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the GLIAC. The Panthers picked up a 21-14 road win at Northwood University last weekend with Isaac Van Dyke leading the way with 87 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
