The Saginaw Valley State University baseball team has had three GLIAC Player of the Week honors this season with Hunter Merillat being the latest. Merillat tossed eight scoreless innings on Friday as the Cardinals won 3-2 to sweep the doubleheader. The Pride were only able to accumulate one hit off Merillat as he struck out six and improved his season ERA to 1.05, leading SVSU pitching. Merillat has three wins in his first four appearances of the season and has been a solid option for the Cardinals along with Tyler McLaren, the other Cardinal to win Pitcher of the Week this year. Merillat and company will be back in action tomorrow against Wayne State before heading to Grand Rapids for two games against Parkside and Davenport this weekend.
