Liz Lerczak Lee was named Deputy Athletics Director by Cardinal Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics John Lewandowski. Lerczak Lee, who also has been appointed as SVSU Senior Woman Administrator, officially assumed her duties on Wednesday, April 2.
"The Deputy Athletics Director position attracted more than 40 applicants from across the country, but Liz Lerczak Lee quickly emerged as the top candidate from the pool due to her extensive experience and diverse skill set," Lewandowski said. "Her focus on improving efficiency and productivity stands out while she also fosters a culture of creativity and accountability. Liz is passionate about ensuring that all student-athletes have a 'Championship Experience.' Her leadership skills and spirit of collaboration will be impactful for our entire Athletics Department, and she will provide valuable mentorship to some young, rising head coaches and administrative staff here at SVSU. There is no doubt that Liz will be a difference maker as our entire team strives to make SVSU a destination for elite NCAA Division II student-athletes."
Lerczak Lee joined the Aquinas College staff in January 2018 as the Athletic Facilities and Business Office Manager before being promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Business Operations and Compliance in September of the same year. Lerczak Lee managed the scheduling for over 30 athletic programs, assisted with compliance, and served as the primary liaison between athletics and the business office.
Lerczak Lee also acted as the Saints Senior Woman Leader, the NAIA equivalent to the Senior Woman Administrator, where she was charged with providing leadership and guidance over Title IX and gender equity planning for all Aquinas sports teams.
Prior to her time with Aquinas, Lerczak Lee was a sports specialist and volleyball official at the David D. Hunting YMCA. She worked as an Athletic Compliance intern at Eastern Michigan University from October 2016 to June 2017 and was the women's volleyball graduate assistant at Concordia University Ann Arbor from August 2015 to June 2017.
"In many ways, accepting this position feels like coming home for me as my dad graduated from SVSU in the fall of 1997, so I grew up coming to campus," Lerczak Lee said. "Having been an athletic administrator for nearly 10 years, I'm confident in the foundation I have guiding me. This position will push me in new ways, and I'm ready for the challenge. I'm extremely grateful for the mentors who have helped me to reach this point in my career. I'm very much looking forward to working with John and the rest of the SVSU team."
Lerczak Lee graduated from Marygrove College in Detroit in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration. She earned a Master of Science in student personnel administration in higher education: athletic administration from CUAA in 2017.
