Stimpfel named USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their Regional Athletes and Coaches of the Year awards on Tuesday. Saginaw Valley State University senior CarLee Stimpfel earned the Midwest Regional Men's Athlete of the Year honor. 

The Cass City, Mich., native had a strong season. Stimpfel won the Lewis University Crossover men's race on Oct. 9. He followed that up by earning First Team All-GLIAC honors after finishing third at the GLIAC Championship meet on Oct. 23. Most recently, Stimpfel won the Midwest Regional title with a time of 30:02.6 in the 10K race, earning a bid to the NCAA DII National Championship meet. He will be racing for his third All-American honor. 

Stimpfel, along with the SVSU women's cross country team, will race at the NCAA DII National meet on Saturday, Nov. 20 at The Abbey in Saint Leo, Fla.
