SVSU Men Finish 10th at 2016 NCAA Cross Country National Championships

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's cross country team competed on Saturday (Nov. 19) at the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships, hosted by Saint Leo University. Allison Dorr also competed as an individual, representing the women's squad. Both parties performed well, as the men notched a 10th place finish in the event and Dorr was 60th overall in her respective event.

The men were paced by junior Tom Goforth, who earned his first all-american honor by placing 30th overall with his personal best 10K showing of 31:05.1. He earned all-american honors for his performance in the event. 

Sophomore Nate Frasier was next for the Cardinals, finishing 76th overall with his time of 31:58.9. Senior Eddie Komph was 84th, crossing the finish line with a time of 32:05.1. Fellow senior Joey Southgate finished in 92nd place overall, posting a mark of 32:11.1. Sophomore Tristan Fackelman was the remaining scorer for the Cards, finishing in 108th place with his time of 32:21.2. 

Junior Clyde Anderson was 134th overall with a time of 32:49.1 while sophomore Parker Eisengruber finished 147th with a showing of 33:02.6.  

Dorr's time of 21:52.9 was her second-fastest career time in a 6K race, just shy of her mark of 21:16.0 she posted at the Midwest Regional Championships when she punched her ticket to compete in the national championships.

Five of the seven men competing for Saginaw Valley will be back for the 2017 campaign, while Dorr will return to lead the women's team in 2017 as well for her senior season.
