BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University Cross Country Teams are set to compete at the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 22nd.

This year's event will take place at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, with Ferris State University serving as the host.

The women will begin competition with a 6K race that will start at 11:00 a.m. The men will follow with their 8K run at 11:45 a.m.

The women look to build on last year's sixth place finish as Brittany Johnson was the top runner for the Cardinals. She finished in 17th place at the tournament, earning Second Team All-GLIAC honors.

On the men's side, the Cardinals are poised to earn a top GLIAC finish following last year's third place showing. Joey Southgate led the way in that race, posting a sixth place finish to earn First Team All-GLIAC plaudits.

The Cardinal men's team is currently ranked 15th in the most recent USTFCCCA Top-25 national rankings.
