BAY CITY - Saginaw Valley State University junior cross country student-athlete Joey Southgate has been chosen as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week after his performance this past Friday at the MSU Spartan Invitational.

Southgate posted a sixth place finish in the men's 8K race out of 386 total competitors. He was the top GLIAC finisher with his time of 25:11, his second best official time of his SVSU career for an 8K event. 

The team is back in action on October 2nd with a trip to the Joe Plane Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Indiana.
