Saginaw Valley State University middle hitter Kaylee Scmitt has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention Team after her play this season for the Cardinals.
Schmitt, who garnered First Team All-GLIAC honors for the 2016 campaign as well, ranked fourth in the GLIAC with a hitting percentage of .331, which led the Cardinals along with her 339 kills. She added 109 total blocks and 65 digs and is on pace to become the all-time leader in attack percentage with her career mark of .307. This marks her first all-midwest region honor to to along with her two First Team All-GLIAC plaudits.
Schmitt will lead Saginaw Valley into the 2016 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament Thursday night against Rockhurst University. The teams will play in the opening round for the second straight season. Full details on the tournament can be found here.
